Pazham Neeyappa - Live Show Recording

Posting a song from live recording of our band’s (Thillana) show from a couple of years ago.

Exceptionally rendered by the inimitable K.B.Sundarambal, this rendition doesn’t even come close to the original. I love this song on multiple fronts – movie being one (can never get bored of Dharumi’s antics…:-), of course most of the songs in this movie are brilliant as well), KBS is another – above all, the sheer divine energy of the lyrics, composition and rendition….

Since it was a live show, opening virutham had to be cut short to the Kambhoji piece alone. Though it was undesirable to cut in the middle of a sentence, we had to make this choice to make it crisp. Being a live performance , it comes with its share of “Coulda, woulda, shoulda….”s :-(. I know for sure, I am never ever going to be able to find a k-track for this song and record it properly :-). So, with all its flaws, here goes……

Song : Pazham Neeyappa
Original Singer: K. B. Sundarambal
Music: Kannadasan
Movie: Thiruvilayadal
Live Performance: Kavitha Nagarajan & Thillana Band

  1. Nicely executed Kavita. I realize this is a live performance.. About your other recordings - Do you use Karaoke tracks.. where can one find those? Also, how do yo cut out noise while recording.. do you use a studio?

  2. @Raji, Mani : Thanks. :-)
@Jai, Thanks. Welcome to my blog.
Yeah, I have used karaoke tracks for some of my earlier posts. Based on the song, I do a search and most often end up getting them from - esnips or one of the sites where ppl put up their own karaokes.
I don't have a studio per se. I try to record in a closed room and try to keep extraneous noise to a minimum. Audacity has a "Noise cancellation" tool, that can be applied post recording...But, I am still learning all this. :-)

  3. Awesome rendition. I saw you performing this song on stage and was very impressed with the way you carried it through from beginning to end flawlessly.
